SCOPE Since the Israeli occupation of the city of Jerusalem in 1967, the Israeli government has been working to bring about cultural, social, demographic, economic and political transformations for its benefit in the city and thus transform the Palestinian city from its Arab-Palestinian character to a national Jewish character. Israel aims to impose a new geopolitical reality commensurate with an Israeli vision of the city and its surroundings. It is astonishing that in these circumstances the city of Jerusalem lives, the role that should be played by Palestinian academics in general and the Jerusalemites in particular is so very modest. We believe that the Palestinian academic arena should be revitalized to carry out academic research in the field of Jerusalem affairs to support our political actors with arguments and narratives that illustrate the daily suffering and the continued injustice within the city and against its people. Therefore, the Center for Jerusalem Studies at Al-Quds University seeks to hold an international conference on the city of Jerusalem, which will discuss the social, economic, legal, geopolitical and historical specificities of the city. In this conference we aim to present a future vision of Jerusalem across several sectors that can support a strategic approach for East Jerusalem.  This means, for example, that we should begin exploring how East Jerusalem should look like in two decades, if it is to support the flourishing of its population, and what trends we have to reverse in order to reach this goal.  As such the orientation of this conference looks truly towards the future.  Our historical narrative has been established and documented rather well compared to our future vision.  It is now time to project our narrative into the future.  We hope this conference is a step in that direction. Main Conference Themes:We seek academic papers dealing with cultural, historical, social, political, economic and environmental aspects in Jerusalem. The following are the proposed topics for the International Conference: 

Social and Cultural Aspects of Palestinian Society in East Jerusalem.

• Education, culture and youth in East Jerusalem.
• Status of women and social conditions in East Jerusalem.
• A Palestinian narrative of Jerusalem and its archaeology.
• UNESCO's decisions on Jerusalem and its implications for the Palestinian situation in the city.
• Employment and economic development in East Jerusalem.

Israeli legal policies

• Future Israeli plans for Jerusalem and its environs.
• Israeli legal policies in East Jerusalem and international law.
• Confiscated and threatened Palestinian property in Jerusalem.

Tourism in Jerusalem: Reality and Challenges, vision for the future

• Investment in the tourism sector in East Jerusalem, the elements and obstacles.
• The role of private sector and institutions in the development of the tourism sector in East Jerusalem.
• The role of tourism in protecting the Palestinian cultural heritage in Jerusalem.
• The role of tourism in the economic and social life of the people of East Jerusalem.
• Strategies and legal frameworks for the promotion of tourism.
• Tourism Routes: Initiatives supporting tourism development.

Invitees:Universities, colleges, institutes, local, Arab and international research centers, and independent researchers in the affairs of Jerusalem. Submissions: Should be part of the conference themes.Should include an abstract in Arabic and EnglishShould not have been submitted to another conference or published previously.Use the APA style for documentation

The number of pages of research participation should not exceed 30 pages printed in Office Word with 14 plain text lines, 14 bold lines for addresses with 1.5 spaces between lines, and Simplified Arabic.

Attach the curriculum vitae of the researchers, specifying the general specialization, exact specialization, degree, and the university or institution in which the researcher is faculty.

The conference management will submit the research to the academic committee, and the research will be published in a special volume.
