Autumn 2021 programme

Starting classes is exciting especially at the Centre for Jerusalem Studies of Al Quds University which has been teaching Arabic as a secondary language for more than two decades.  Both Modern Standard and Levantine colloquial Arabic courses are taught by a pool of well experienced teachers.  Courses are offered all year long in our three campuses in Jerusalem & Ramallah, for all levels from beginning to advanced in the morning and evening. Our curriculum is based on known book series, used by many well known universities in teaching Arabic such as the Al-Kitaab series published by the Georgetown University Press, for standard courses, and the Yallah Nihki Arabi series by Dr. Omar Othman for spoken, in addition to our own supplemental materials to fill in the gaps and create a more complete and exciting learning experience.

* Small or one-on-one classes can be arranged for interested students .

Why CJS?

CJS is more than one of the leading cultural and research centers in the region.

Being a vibrant, active community with a wide range of activities and events for many areas of interest.  Arabic students are urged to participate in the center’s tours, musical and cultural events in addition to lectures drawn by a comprehensive network of scholars, activists, artists, and other cultural figures, to greatly enhance students’ overall learning experience. Students will get 50% reduction on participating in desired weekly Al Quds tours, in addition to the possibility of participating in the general public lectures held by the center. The center also offers a great opportunity for students to enhance their Arabic learning skills by attending a wide range of lectures in the M.A. in Jerusalem Studies' programme held in Arabic. In addition to having the opportunity to hold conversations & discussions with native speakers at the campus.

This complete programme will enable students to improve their Arabic skills while shaping up personal connections in one of the most historically, culturally diverse, and politically complex spots on earth.
